Advancing Industrial Efficiency: Rotoliptic Completes R200 Pump Expansion Project with ERA

At Rotoliptic, we are redefining industrial pumping by showing that high-performance technology can go hand-in-hand with environmental sustainability. We are proud to announce the successful completion of our recent expansion project, supported by Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA).

The Innovation: approved through the ERA’s Partnership Intake Program, this project focused on the development and commercialization of our R200 pump. Building on the success of our smaller model, the R200 is a high-performance, all-metal progressing cavity pump designed to handle the extreme pressures and temperatures of Alberta’s SAGD and heavy oil fields. Its simple, two-part architecture eliminates the need for elastomers, offering a robust solution for the most demanding multi-phase environments.

Proven Results: The project concluded in 2024 following extensive testing in Bonnyville, Alberta. Over more than 300 days of real-world field demonstrations with two different SAGD operators, the R200 proved its reliability and efficiency:

  • Energy Efficiency: Validated energy consumption reductions of 15 to 30 per cent compared to historical all-metal pumps.

  • Increased Capacity: Engineering improvements during the project now allow the pump to handle 20% higher pressures, with lift capacities up to 1,300 meters.

  • Emissions Impact: Direct reductions in COâ‚‚ emissions as a result of significantly lower power requirements.

The Path Forward: With the R200 now commercially available, Rotoliptic is focused on scaling production and growing our partnerships within Alberta’s energy sector. We are grateful for the $1.5 million in funding from ERA, which was instrumental in moving this technology from prototype to a commercially viable product that helps operators meet their greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets.
